FLYING DUTCH: exchanging lessons on food sustainability with the Netherlands

NOTE: THIS WILL BE AN IN-Person meeting over dinner

The Netherlands ranked highly in the Food Sustainability Index, which ranked countries on a range of measures – amongst sustainable agriculture, tackling nutritional challenges and food loss & waste. This compares favourably with the UK. There is a lot the two countries can learn from each other with regard to food sustainability.

With the UK having left the EU, what opportunities are there for close ties between UK and the Netherlands? The Netherlands is also one of the world’s leading food exporters, so what might happen to trade relationships in the future?

This in-person dinner meeting will provide an opportunity to:

  • Assess the new, revised version of the Food Sustainability Index
  • Consider the extent to which the Netherlands is a world leader on healthy, sustainable food and farming, how its policy landscape and food environment enable sustainable agriculture outcomes and what is their relevance to a UK setting
  • Explore future potential trading relationships between the UK and its near neighbour
  • Consider what UK food and farming businesses can learn from how contentious food and farming issues are being tackled in the Netherlands – and vice versa

Keynote speakers will be announced soon. Please register using the Eventbrite link.
