This workshop will take place as part of the 2023 Oxford Real Farming Conference.
Join farmers from the Food Ethics Council’s Dairy Project seeking to overcome lock-ins relating to dairy. Much UK dairy production has intensified, with average herd sizes doubling and milk production per cow increasing. Soaring input costs alongside limited increases in farmgate milk prices have pushed many small-scale farms out of production and others onto a treadmill of volume-based production over value-based products, with major knock-on effects for animal welfare, environment and farm worker physical and mental health. Can dairying be done differently? Uncover practical actions, examples and resources to empower farmers.
