White Paper: empty sheet or fresh hope? [ONLINE]

ONLINE MEETING: How SHOULd we reacT to the UK government’s white paper response to the national food strategy?

The UK Government’s long awaited White Paper response to the National Food Strategy (for England) is now expected in May. In this hour-long session, we will explore whether it fits the bill and how food and agricultural companies might respond – constructively and/ or critically.

Speakers will include Dustin Benton, Policy Director, Green Alliance and former Chief Analytical Adviser of the National Food Strategy, who will provide his immediate reaction to the White Paper.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to:

• Consider what the White Paper means and its implications for the sector
• Explore how food and agricultural companies might respond
• Reflect on how businesses should adopt what comes out of the White Paper
• Consider what food companies should do individually or collectively to fill any gaps and/ or to push the UK Government to do more

This ONLINE meeting will provide an opportunity to assess short-term and long-term implications of the White Paper – and promises to be both informative and a safe space to react and share ideas.
