The Food Ethics Council 20th anniversary

On Wednesday, 20th June the Food Ethics Council celebrated twenty years as the authoritative voice on food ethics. Our event, 'The future of food, all things considered' brought together leading changemakers in the food system to explore the big, difficult and urgent questions facing our food system.

On Wednesday, 20th June, 2018 the Food Ethics Council celebrated its 20th anniversary by convening a group of leading experts, including Olivier De Schutter, former UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food and co-chair of the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPES-Food), to discuss ‘The Future of Food, all things considered’. The event brought together over 100 opinion formers, food and farming business leaders and other changemakers to explore the big, difficult and pressing questions facing our food system, and to call for much needed action.

  • In our press release ahead of the event, we called for a 'Blue Planet moment' to set our food system onto a fair and sustainable footing.
  • To coincide with the event, we commissioned Populus to conduct a survey of attitudes to fairness in the food system. See the results and read our analysis here.
  • We also created a timeline of selected food milestones from the last 20 years.
