#FOODTALKS: HOW GOOD FOOD BUSINESS CAN HELP BUILD BACK BETTER

The latest event in our online 2020 #FoodTalks series – which has an overarching theme this year of ‘We are all emergency respondents now’ – explored the role of good food enterprise.

How can food businesses play their role in not just getting through the pandemic, but addressing the multiple emergencies we face, including climate, biodiversity, obesity and economic crises? How can we remain hopeful amidst continuing difficult times ahead? How have food businesses stayed resilient and adapted? What roles can food business leaders play in helping build back better and influencing policy – in ways that address root causes of some of the issues we face? How can we all play a part? These were just some of the questions we explored in this lively discussion, which took place via Zoom.

This #FoodTalks was hosted by Sarah Williams, Programmes Director at Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming. Our speakers, who have all founded food enterprises, were:

  • Thomasina Miers, Co-founder of Wahaca and former winner of Masterchef
  • Geetie Singh-Watson OBE, Founder of the first official organic pub in Britain and owner of the Bull Inn in Totnes
  • Christopher Kong, Co-founder of Better Nature
