Deadline for expressing interest: 15th January 2025
You can also view this call out as a Google Doc here.
The Food Ethics Council welcomes expressions of interest from graphic designers and data visualisation designers to transform the data gathered via the third Food Issues Census into accessible, engaging, and useful outputs. This includes:
- Creating a series (5-10) of graphs/infographics/graphics from a large dataset
- Brand and design of a final 25-30 page report
We welcome applications from freelancers who can do either or both of the above tasks. Applications from those who can do both are preferable. We also welcome applications from organisations/agencies.
The Food Issues Census is a project to understand the organisations and communities working in and organising around key food-related issues across the UK. The census is open for responses until 17th January 2025. You can take a look at the questions being asked here.
The purpose of the census is to:
- map the landscape of civil society organisations working on food & farming
- illuminate who is working on what
- understand civil society needs and capacity to meet food system challenges
- ask what is needed from funders
- support a more dynamic, coherent and impactful sector
Crucially, the data gathered via the census will provide a trusted reference point for funders, policymakers and other social change decision-makers to understand gaps and niches in knowledge and capacity, and to target funding strategies and outreach accordingly.
We are looking for a person/people who can work collaboratively with us to take a look at the data collected, and decide which survey responses would work well as graphs/infographics/graphics. We are open to working innovatively and creatively.

Fee: Up to £1,600 for data visualisation; Up to £1,900 for report design; Up to £3,500 for both
