The Food Ethics Council welcomes the government announcement on Tuesday 4th December that the Groceries Code Adjudicator will have the power to fine retailers who breach the groceries code, and treat their suppliers unlawfully or unfairly.
The Food Ethics Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Dan Crossley as its new Executive Director. Dan is currently Principal Sustainability Advisor and Acting Head of Food at Forum for the Future, where he has worked for the past six years.
The September 2012 meeting of the Food Ethics Council’s Business Forum discussed the interlinked challenges of dealing with climate change and ensuring food security for an expanded global population.
In May this year [2012] the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) called on Government to do much more to provide the strategic policy framework for achieving a fair food system that provides healthy and sustainable food for all.
Ben Mepham has been elected to a Fellowship of the Society of Biology, the leading professional body representing the learned and other organisations comprising UK biosciences.
