AN OPEN LETTER ON THE CONDITION OF WORK AND WORKERS BEHIND THE UK FOOD SYSTEM

The Food Ethics Council is one of 15 signatories on an open letter discussing the main challenges and obstacles faced by workers in the UK, from farm to fork. The letter was written in response to a workshop held in Bristol on June 14th, 2019, along with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Professor Hilal Elver, with the intention to look closely at the condition of work and workers behind the UK food system. The workshop was attended by academics, union representatives, civil society organisers, and members of food-related NGOs and think tanks.
