Embracing ethics at a time of crisis

How can we stick to core values and build resilience while balancing the need for business survival during and after COVID-19?

In May 2020 we hosted our first online Business Forum in which we examined what values have come to the fore during the pandemic and which critical trade-offs food and farming businesses are facing.  We considered how food and farming companies can embrace, rather than just ‘hang on to’, ethics during and after the pandemic. Read our summary write-up to learn about the importance of businesses showing ethical ‘character’, plus things to watch out for and questions to ask.

The event featured contributions by Ben Greensmith (UK Country Manager, Tony’s Chocolonely), Frank Bothwell (Founder, Thomas Franks Ltd.) and Dr Julian Baggini (philosopher, freelance writer, author and member of the Food Ethics Council). It was chaired by Dan Crossley, Executive Director of the Food Ethics Council.
