Novel Foods: Beyond Nuffield
The safety of GM foods initially raised little public concern. There was discussion in academic circles about the environmental impacts of growing GM crops, particularly those with herbicide and pesticide resistance, and the socio-economic effects of this technology particularly in the Global South.
This report is the Council’s own response to the Nuffield Council on Bioethics’ publication ‘Genetically modified crops: the ethical and social issues (1999).’
