The welfare of farmed animals should be taken seriously at all stages of animals’ lives – including transport and slaughter. We urge the UK government to follow through on promises made in its 2019 manifesto relating to farm animal welfare (see our Food Promises summary here), including accelerating its commitment to bringing in new laws on animal sentience.
