We are grateful to our speakers, Alice Bows, Senior Lecturer in Energy and Climate Change, and Carly McLachlan, Lecturer in Climate Change, both at the Sustainable Consumption Institute, based within the School of Mechanical, Civil and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester.

Drs Bows and McLachlan wrote the report ‘What’s cooking? Adaptation and mitigation in the UK food system’, the findings of which they shared with the Business Forum members.

A lively discussion ensued around the scenarios outlined in the report, the potential business and consumer responses and the change management process that might be required to achieve desired outcomes.

The meeting was chaired by David Croft, Director of Food Technology at Waitrose and a member of the Food Ethics Council.
